Saskatoon Labor Force March 2012

Here are the Saskatoon labor force indicators for March 2012 ( not adjusted) from Stats Canada

I'm noticing loads of businesses with help wanted signs.  With the fastest growing population in Canada, this labor market puzzles me.  These indicators should show a tight labor market but they aren't.  Employment from a month earlier was higher by 400 jobs.  The biggest increase of workers from a month earlier came in construction as there were 1400 more workers.  The percent of workers in construction stands at 8.8%.  Manufacturing saw an increase of 500 people employed and the scientific, and technical services sector saw an increase of 800 people employed.  Other sectors either stayed the same or lost some jobs.

  1. Do these graphs capture entrepreneurial activity?
Entrepreneurs may show up as unemployed for the first year or two.
